There is no more important area of communication than training. Actually, training is all about communication. Conveying policy, procedures or technical updates to staff in a clear and effective manner is critical to your ongoing success and growth.
LA Management partners with you to create visual training programs that are delivered on CD, DVD or the Internet.
Case study:
A national equipment distributor needed to train their service personnel on the latest Gizmo 2004. Over 80 field technicians worked from offices across the country. Much of the technology was the same but critical updates needed to be demonstrated to assure quality service and to minimize hotline support.
Travel costs – 80 x $250 = $20,000
Hotel costs – 80 x $75 = $6,000 x 3 Days = $18,000
Entertainment and Catering - $7,200.00
Misc Expenses (transportation, per diem) - $7,000
Lost time for service personnel - $36,000
Total: $88,200.00
(Note* Not included costs for senior in-house technicians to train and entertain for 3 days.)
Solution:
LA Management developed an interactive training program. All aspects of service were filmed. Top technicians demonstrated the service. The service categories were direct from the service catalog and professionally narrated. All aspects of service were the broken out into video modules from set-up to programming to specific adjustments.
The video modules and service manual were then placed on a CD-ROM that the field technicians could take with them. If there was an aspect of the new machines they were unfamiliar with they simply selected the topic of service from the CD menu, watched the correct service application performed (usually 1 to 3 minutes) and read the technical manual section that applied. The CD was like having a top service technician along on service calls 24/7.
Costs: $24,500.00
Savings: $63,700.00*
Besides from the obvious savings the technicians had the CD as a constant reference tool rather than depending on memory and scribbled notes when a particular service came about.
(* The International Manufacturer paid 50% of the CD production costs and eventual adapted it for service personnel around the world.)
